West Seattle Blog… | DO YOU HAVE SHEETS? It’s time to put them in a bag for the free collection of additional garden waste

It’s not just the streets and sewers but also the sidewalks that need to be cleared of all those leaves that the wind and rain have knocked down (have you ever tried using a sidewalk covered in slippery / mushy leaves? ). If you have a yard waste collection service, now is the time to do so, as you can drop off additional yard waste at no additional cost each collection day in November. From the reminder of the city:

If you find that you have more leaves and yard waste than your Garden Food and Waste Cart will fit, SPU is here for you! In November, SPU is offering an additional FREE garden waste collection for domestic customers, up to 10 additional bags for each collection throughout the month. Simply place your extra yard waste next to your food and yard waste cart on pickup day.

Additional garden waste should be contained either in kraft paper bags or placed in an additional container clearly identified to indicate that it contains additional garden waste. Please ensure that your additional garden waste collection bags or containers contain only garden waste and not food waste. Fallen branches and twigs can also be arranged for additional gathering. These can be tied in bundles up to 4 feet long by 2 feet in diameter and tied with fiber twine. Do not use wire, nylon cord or plastic tape.

(Thanks to Eddie for reminding us!)
