Thriftify’s weekly new drops feature hundreds of designer brands, from Dior to Balenciaga

More and more people have been boycotting fast fashion in recent years, with style lovers now turning to the pre-loved gems already on the market.

Depop, Vestiaire Collective, reverie, Spice Vintage, Studio Minti; as interest in maintaining the circular economy grows, so does the demand for places to buy second-hand/vintage clothing online. There’s a lot to be said for the physical shopping experience, but after several months of lockdown, the ease of having something delivered right to your doorstep can’t be ignored.

Already with a thriving online marketplace – which has 98% of Irish charities in attendance – Thrifify is now launching a new initiative with its weekly Designer Drops focusing on corporate donations, customer returned items and end-of-line inventory that would otherwise be sent to landfill…and the first batch includes hundreds of luxury items. We’re talking Telfar, Balenciaga, Seletti, Chanel – the list goes on.

According to a Thriftify spokesperson:

“With this new initiative, Thriftify is partnering with corporate retailers who want to be more sustainable. We’ve built a solution to channel this stock to charities where it can have an impact. The first donation is thousands of luxury items that were donated to NCBI through Thriftify.

“There is a range of coveted luxury items from prom dresses to accessories, handbags, shoes and clothing. Prices range from €50 all the way up to a vintage jacket worth €12,000. However, all items are only a fraction of the RRP (recommended retail price), so customers will be able to purchase luxury items up to 70% off original prices.”

Hundreds of items will go live on the Thriftify website at 6 p.m. every Thursday (starting April 6) and the drops will feature luxury products from NCBI as well as some of their other charity partners. “We also have authentic products from Chanel, Gucci, Dior, Burberry, Balmain, Versace, Prada and dozens of other brands,” confirms the spokesperson. Other brands among their inventory include Alexander McQueen, Yeezy, Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, Celine, Commes Des Garçons, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Ganni, Gucci, Valentino, Simone Rocha and Supreme – although this list is not exhaustive.

Simply log on to the website at 6pm, take a look at what’s on offer, and whatever you buy will be sent to your doorstep within two to five days (all in a biodegradable bag). We love bargains, especially designer ones – good for the planet, good for your pocket too.
